Children’s Care
At Spixworth Dental Practice, we believe in the importance of early dental care for children. We provide NHS dental care for children under 18, focusing on prevention and building positive dental experiences.
Regular visits help establish good oral hygiene habits and reduce the risk of dental problems as children grow. Our experienced team of dentists and hygienists are dedicated to providing a positive, child-friendly experience that promotes a lifetime of healthy smiles.
What a child’s appointment looks like
- A gentle, unhurried welcome — we let children set the pace, especially at their first visit
- A check-up in plain language — we explain what we’re doing as we go, so nothing feels scary
- Practical advice for parents — brushing technique, toothpaste choice, snack and drink habits, and what’s worth worrying about (and what isn’t) at each age
- Preventive treatments — fluoride varnish and fissure sealants where appropriate, both available on the NHS
First visits
Ideally we like to see children by their first birthday, or as soon as their first teeth come through. Early visits are usually short and mostly about getting used to the surgery — no drills, no fuss. The goal is for your child to grow up thinking of the dentist as a normal, friendly part of life.
NHS eligibility
NHS dental care is free for under-18s (and under-19s in full-time education). There’s no sign-up form beyond your usual new patient registration — just bring your child along to their appointment.
